Battlefield BoonLay trinity
The outcome of our boisterous complaints is starting to unravel. On the entry walls, our eyes bare witness to the grotesque spectacle of changes brought forward from the darkest corner of the office of student affairs.
Regarding the buses :
Regarding the internet :
On sunday a technician came and verified that our network was unsecured and slow (very slow). He said we'll be getting a "booster". All these changes have come about thanks to the numerous complaints from Boon Lay inhabitants, last week someone (apparently a frustrated american student) stuck a message in the elevator and in the staricases so that we'd all join in the fight. Sure enough, it was quickly brought down by the security guards. This was the message :

Battlefield BoonLay
Good people of the Office of Student
Affairs,
I
am writing to you because I wish you could be in my shoes and know how that feels.
You might then understand the meaning of justice. The students staying at the
Boonlay student hostel, myself included, have suffered sufficient injustice.
First of
all, the shuttle buses between Boonlay and NUS are too few and their timetables
inappropriate. Buses that are designed for 50 to 60 people (standing included)
are filled with 80 to 90 people. This situation is not only uncomfortable but
also dangerous. Often students are left behind. If these buses were more
numerous and wisely spread out during the day, we might have the same chances
at academic success than our friends who were lucky enough to live on campus.
Most
importantly, our learning material is found entirely and exclusively on the
web. As a consequence, a stable and fast access to the internet is absolutely
necessary for our studies. We cannot go check our mail and ivle announcements
at NUS everyday. Hence, it is very problematic that the internet access we are
provided with at Boonlay is not secure, unavailable half of the time, and
extremely slow (approximately 50 kps). My colleagues and I feel betrayed and
frustrated. We hope you will attend these problems as necessary. A show of good
will from you concerning these matters would be highly appreciated.
Best
regards, Thomas Petithuguenin.
